Helping an up-and-coming Vancouver-based choral composer easily share her music with conductors through a custom Showit website

The Challenge
Eager to get her music to conductors, Gerda set out to publish her composer website in late 2022.
When we met at the start of 2023, her site had been put back on the shelf.
There had been weird stuff going on—sometimes the website’s catalog would work.
Sometimes not.
“I haven’t launched the site to conductors. I’m afraid these functions won’t work.”
The Solution
When we introduced Gerda to Showit, she was amazed at how easy it was compared to her WordPress website which ran using Divi.
Even more so, Gerda felt relieved that Showit was comparable to Canva, which she had experience with.
While we could’ve plugged in the previous design she had with the initial site, we decided to give Gerda’s new digital space the ol’ CONTRAST Collective Co. quality of care—
One built around her story and how it influences her music.
“I was impressed with Alyssa’s ability to take my ideas as a composer, conductor and music educator and work them into this site.”
We made it our primary goal to build a custom Showit website so that Gerda wouldn’t have to wait for the next web designer to make minute changes for her.
Since she was already familiar with WordPress, we advised Gerda to opt for the Showit + WordPress basic blog so that she could use the blog to upload details about her compositions and other media.
“…I can easily upload new compositions [and] update older entries including videos and performing news.”
The Results
“[CONTRAST Collective Co.] kept the website clear and simple so that conductors can quickly find what they’re looking for.”
Shortly after we finished her custom Showit website, Gerda caught wind that an album in which one of her compositions was featured, got nominated for a Juno.
Gerda took to her website and published the news there.
“[CONTRAST Collective Co.] designed a unique layout (functional and visually appealing) that reflects my style and an easy format to sell my digital downloads from [music publishers like] Sheet Music Plus and Sheet Music Direct.”
“The website has made me keen to promote my work to singers, conductors and educators.”
