While we do work with your vision, we're not order-takers—we're strategic partners. We'll push back where needed but know it's to make sure your clients and customers get the BEST online experience.
Because we believe that the copy lends itself to the overall customer experience, we DO tinker around with your copy—whether that's adjusting your copy to structure the web design. Also, we're not in the business of "cranking" out web pages.
Our sweet spot seems to be in helping expertise-based businesses: marketers, dietitians, engineers, dental offices, food bloggers, professors/researchers, music teachers, coaches, etc.
While we have worked with interior designers, calligraphers, and photographers/videographers, we work best with creative business owners who are willing to work with a strategic partner, even if it means taking some creative liberties to ensure the best digital experience for your clients.

We're not going to sugarcoat it—there are lots of moving parts and things to invest in, in order for a website to work the way you want it to. But this is also why past experiences with more "affordable" website packages have left you high and dry—in (over)prioritizing speed and/or affordability, foundational aspects may have been left out. For example, all CONTRAST web design projects start with a website audit and strategy day to make sure we have a solid plan before starting any work on your website. We also ask that you have a solid brand (logos, colours, fonts, brand messaging, etc.) before any website work so that the website's visual design will attract your ideal audience. If you don't have a solid brand, don't worry! We can scope this into your project.
We're mindful of the investment and will try to source open source (i.e. free) tools wherever possible—but never at the cost of your/your clients' safety, longevity, and your hard-earned credibility.

Looking at competitors is helpful to know what people in your field are doing (and what's available to your audience)—in fact, a competitive analysis is baked into our website strategy + design process! However, this is the surest way to designing + building a website that you'll redesign in the next 1-2 years because it's not built on YOUR story, experience, and expertise.
